ESUJ's annual autumn university debating competition
was held for the seventh time this year, with 30 teams from
21universities including new participants of Aoyama Gakuin University
and Kyushu University. A wonderful team of debaters from the
UK also actively participated enthusiastically. The two-day
competition commenced the morning of Sunday, October 10 at the
National Olympics Memorial Youth Center. Eight
teams advanced to the final rounds and from here on out, the
compe- tition followed tounament farmat. The result of the high-level,
vigorously fought contest was that Yokohama National University
2 and Keio University 2 advanced to the final match, debating
the motion "This House would amend Article 9 of the Japanese
Constitution". Both sides fought valiantly , producing
a match well worth seeing. Yokohama National University won
by 6 points to 5. Runners Up was Keio University 2 and third
place Osaka Prefecture University 1. |
