| The first lecture of the year
2006 in our Ambassador's Lecture Series will feature
H.E. Mr. Acad. Blagovest Hristov Sendov, Bulgarian
Ambassador to Japan. Situated in the southern part
of the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria was one of the
first East European countries to embrace democracy.
Bulgaria has become famous in Japan because of Ozeki
Kotooshu's shy singing in a commercial for Bulgarian
yoghurt, but there are many other positive and delightful
aspects of the country. Ambassador Sendov, a former
President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences,
Chairman of the 37th National Assembly of the Republic
of Bulgaria and distinguished mathematician, will
talk in depth about present day Bulgaria and its
future. Make sure you plan to attend. |

of Bulgaria to Japan
Born in Asenovgrad, Bulgaria, 1932. PhD in Mathematics,
Sofia University
Studied in Moscow University, Imperial College London
Professor in Numerical Analysis at Sofia Univ. (1968-),
Rector, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ochridsky"
Parliamentary Career 1975-2003 (Member of the National
Assembly, Chairman, Vice-Chairman)
Ambassador to Japan since December 2003.
Served important posts in various international organizations.
