ESUJ New Year's Lecture

"JAPAN’S THREE CHALLENGES"
Dr. Margarita Estévez-Abe
Associate Professor of Political Science at Maxwell School,
Syracuse University

The general election last September resulted in the dramatic shift of power from the LDP-Komeito coalition to the DPJ-led coalition government. What changes does this portend? Is a real two-party system here to stay? Professor Margarita Estévez-Abe, winner of the Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Prize in 2009, is a brilliant political scientist educated at Keio and Harvard known for her excellent comparative research on Japan, the U.S. and Europe.
