Profile: H.E. Dr. Philip De Heer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Japan
Born 1950 in Geleen, the Netherlands. Studied Sinology at the University of Leyden, ultimately receiving a Doctorate in Sinology from the same institution. Entered Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1975. Served in Hong Kong, Beijing, Washington, and Singapore. Principal Secretary to Her Majesty the Queen; Director of the Asia and Oceania Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc. Ambassador to China, 2001-2005. Permanent Secretary of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From August 2008 Ambassador to Japan.
