Interest in parliamentary-style debate as a way of organizing thoughts and rationally explaining opinions has been growing by leaps and bounds in Japan.
The English-Speaking Union of Japan currently organizes a debating tournament annually for Shakaijin (participants other than students), which is very popular among working people. In conjunction with this, ESUJ has decided to establish the ESUJ Adults Debate Club.
Parliamentary debate activity is an excellent way to improve public speaking skills. Our aims are to provide seminars on debating and create a broad network of people from different walks of life, nationalities and age groups through occasional informal get-togethers. |
